Demonstrate broad knowledge and understanding of legislative requirements and teaching strategies that support participation and learning of students with disability.
During my final placement one of the students in the class had a walker, I made sure to include any allowances that needed to be made for her to be able to participate in the lessons, such as the ‘Treasure Map’ lesson, I made sure her aide was informed before hand of the physical requirements of the lesson, and insured she was placed in a group with student’s who would be able to assist her. I also ensured that I stayed aware of her movements in the classroom, adapting any activities/small jobs (such as asking her to be bin monitor while other students were on the floor picking up rubbish) so she could be fully involved in the classroom.
