About Me
I was born in Victoria and I remember teachers and other adults always commenting on how I was born to be a teacher. I decided to study art once I had completed high school, but soon quit so I could travel for a few years.
After working for many years as an integration aide, tutor and nanny I made the decision to begin a teaching course while living in Alice Springs. Fortunately I was able to study by correspondence meaning that I was able to adapt my study commitments to my life.
Choosing to travel whilst studying meant I had to be flexible, organised and most of all dedicated. Seeing the world while completing assignments about cultural inclusion in the classroom and teaching English as a second language, along with completing a teaching placement at a school in Hong Kong were valuable experiences as a student teacher. I was able to see different parts of the world, and the lengths some people go to to gain a decent education for their children, and the difference it makes for those children, their families and communities. I was also exposed to the respect that many cultures have for those who have dedicated their lives to teaching others.
